average July temperature average of 81°F. The area 
receives an average of 34 inches of rain annually and 5 
inches of snow. The average number of flying days is 345.

Stroud has a City Manager and Council form of government. 
There is a comprehensive city plan and zoning.

Stroud has 19 volunteer fire personnel and 10 full-time 
police officers. The city's fire insurance has a 6 classification

Air Transportation
Tulsa International Airport, located 54 miles east of Stroud, 
is a full service field with three runways, the longest having 
a total runway length of 10,000 feet. There are at least 10 
major commercial airlines and 20 air freight companies 
operating there.

Will Rogers World Airport, located 68 miles west of Stroud 
in Oklahoma City, is a full service field with four runways, 
the longest having a total runway length of 9,500 feet. There 
are at least 7 major commercial airlines and 17 air freight 
companies in operation. 

Stroud Municipal Airport, located 2 miles north of I-44 on 
US 377, is 3,000 feet in length and can serve private aircraft.

Cushing Flight Service, located 20 miles northwest of Stroud, 
has a 5200 ft. runway. Air freight and Corporate Services 
available.

Water Transportation

The nearest water transportation is the Port of Catoosa. It is 
67 miles from Stroud and has a channel depth of 9 feet. It is 
connected via the Arkansas River to the Mississippi River and 
the Gulf of Mexico.

Road System

Stroud is located on I-44 (Turner Turnpike), at the intersection 
of US 377(SH 99) and US 66.

Rail Availability
There is rail service from the Stillwater Central Railroad 
(Watco Companies, Inc.), with 1 local train daily.

banquet facility in Stroud seats up to 400 people.

Central Oklahoma Vo-Tech located in Drumright, 20 miles 
northeast of Stroud, serves the area. The majority of Oklahoma's 
major universities and colleges are within a 75-minute drive 
of Stroud. The Stroud Public Library has over 12,000 volumes 
and is part of the Oklahoma Library Technology Network-cat 
(OLTNcat) telecommunication inter-library loan system through 
which over 6 million items may be transmitted via a computer 
modem. The Oklahoma Telecommunications inter-library System 
(OTIS) is also available at the Stroud Public Library. A section of 
large-print books are available and updated annually. The 
genealogy section is used extensively.

switching station

Medical Facilities and Medical Practitioners

Stroud Municipal Hospital, a 25-bed facility, provides a full 
range of primary care services as well as a 24-hour emergency 
room, inpatient/outpatient surgery, obstetrics, X-ray and 
laboratory. The Hospital has consulting staff doctors in 
Cardiology, Podiatry, EMT, and Gastroenterology who practice 
in Stroud on a semi-monthly basis. There are 3 clinics in Stroud, 
and 1 nursing home with 58 beds. Practicing in the Stroud area 
are 3 medical doctors and 1 optometrist. Home health care 
and hospice services are available.

Financial Institutions
Stroud has 3 banks with assets totaling over $3.6 billion.

Industrial Financing
The Oklahoma Finance Authorities (OFA) provide low interest 
financing through the issuance of general obligation bonds. The 
loans are established at 300 basis points over cost. In a first 
mortgage position the loan can be up to $2 million. Access to 
financing sources also include insurance companies, venture 
capitalists, IRB's and build-to-suit arrangements.

Recreational Facilities
The citizens of Stroud have access to a number of recreational 
facilities. Parks (6) Tennis Courts (2) Country Clubs (1) 
Swimming Pools (1) Golf  Courses (1).
Stroud Municipal Golf Course is an ideal spot for family sport 
and recreation. The 9-hole, 6,292 yard, par 70 course features 
manicured greens and a series of men's and ladies' tee boxes. 
The Club House offers cart rental, snacks, golf equipment and 
other merchandise.

Stroud Senior Citizens Center is designed for those over 60. 
The center coordinated by PROJECT HEART, serves a nutritious 
lunch, provides hearing tests and hearing aid checks, and monthly 
visits by nurses. There is always a variety of entertainment going 
on such as cards, dominoes, special trips and guest singers and 
musicians.

The Municipal Fitness Center offers a wide range of weight 
and cardiovascular training equipment. The center has liberal 
hours, low fees, and aerobic classes.

Stroud Lake is located 3 miles north and 3 miles east of Stroud. 
The lake boasts 621 surface acres and offers boating, fishing, 
water skiing, overnight camping and swimming at the white sand 
beach. Visitors will find picnic tables, barbecue grills, pavilions, 
rest rooms with shower facilities, RV pads with utilities, and bridle 
paths. Twenty-six campsites with electricity and water and 50 
campsites without electricity are available on a first come, first 
serve basis.

Foster Park offers a public swimming pool, a fishing pond, 
playground equipment and picnic facilities. The park complex also 
includes 4 ball fields, tennis courts, and a covered pavilion available 
for group activities.

The Sac and Fox Nation is headquartered 5 1/2 miles south of 
Stroud and is one of the community's major employers. The 
Nation first located in what is now Lincoln County on a 750,000 
acre tract of land in 1869, after moving from the upper peninsula 
of the Great Lakes region. The Nation's Capitol Grounds includes 
the Headquarters Building, a 60-bed juvenile detention facility, the 
Library and Tribal Archives building, the Black Hawk Health Clinic, 
the Tribal Courthouse (which serves as the center of operations for
the Nation's judicial system), a U.S.D.A. commodities warehouse, 
as well as a bingo hall, an outdoor powwow and rodeo arena, 
and campgrounds. The campgrounds contain 50 camp sites, 
RV/motor home concrete pads, deluxe hook-ups, dump, flush 
toilets, showers, laundry, swimming pool, playground and fishing 
facilities. The powwow is held each year over a four-day period 
during the second week in July.

Other Attractions

Located at Stroud Lake, the Wilderness Challenge Center is an 
Oklahoma Foundation for the Disabled facility. The Center has 
a meeting facility, a ropes course, a bunkhouse, and is available 
on a rental basis for special events.
